The Regional Minister of Infrastructure and Mobility, Ethel Vázquez, today highlighted the awareness-raising work on water saving by the schoolchildren of CEIP Pedro Caselles Rollán de Xove in the winning video of the provincial Innovaugas 4.0 award.

Vázquez Mourelle presented today, together with the regional delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Lugo, Javier Arias, the award, worth €3,000, to the winning project in the province of Lugo, made by the students of this school's first year of primary school.

He pointed out that the winning video, "Gota a gota tamén se esgota" (Drop by drop, it also drips), gives advice in one minute on how to save water and stresses that caring for this resource is everyone's task and responsibility. The schoolchildren's recommendations for saving water include turning off the tap when brushing their teeth or washing their hands; installing water-saving devices; using rainwater to water plants; and reducing the use of microplastics because they pollute rivers and the sea.

She thanked the students and teachers for the work they did to transmit the message of caring for water, as well as the values and advice for preserving it and not wasting it.

Ethel Vázquez highlighted the value of these 1st Innovaugas 4.0 School Prizes organised by Augas de Galicia in collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities to promote and encourage the responsible use of water among the youngest children.

The initiative was aimed at children in the first and second year of primary school throughout Galicia, who had to produce an audiovisual piece on respect for water. Once the works were submitted, 4 winners were chosen, one per province, as well as finalists.
