• The Regional Minister for Infrastructure and Mobility presented the prize, worth €3,000, to the winning project in the province of Pontevedra, carried out by the school's 2nd year primary school pupils.
• Vázquez Mourelle emphasised that the winning project, 'A agua' (Water), explains in one minute how humanity's relationship with water is changing and how new technologies help to manage and care for water in a more sustainable way.
• He praised the advice given in the video, such as turning off the tap when brushing your teeth, taking a shower instead of a bath or avoiding throwing away waste that pollutes the water.
• He emphasises the welcome of these first awards organised by Augas de Galicia, in collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities, to promote the responsible use of water among young people.
• The children in the 1st and 2nd years of primary school had to produce an audiovisual piece on respect for water, resulting in 4 winners, one per province, as well as finalists.

The Regional Minister of Infrastructure and Mobility, Ethel Vázquez, today highlighted the ability of the schoolchildren of Colexio Estudio de Nigrán to capture the social and environmental importance of water in the winning video of the provincial Innovaugas 4.0 award.

Vázquez Mourelle today presented the prize, worth €3,000, to the winning project in the province of Pontevedra, produced by the 2nd year primary school pupils of this school.

He stressed that the winning project, 'A agua' (Water), explains in just one minute how humanity's relationship with water is changing and how new technologies help to manage and care for water in a more sustainable way.

He praised the advice given in the video, such as turning off the tap when brushing your teeth, taking a shower instead of a bath or watering at certain times of the day. He also emphasised the idea of avoiding littering, which pollutes and contaminates the water, as this has an impact on other living beings.

He underlined the welcome of these 1st Innovaugas 4.0 School Prizes organised by Augas de Galicia in collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities to promote and encourage the responsible use of water among young people.

This initiative was aimed at children in the first and second year of primary school throughout Galicia, who had to produce an audiovisual piece on respect for water. Once the works were submitted, 4 winners were chosen, one per province, as well as finalists.

Innovaugas 4.0

These awards are part of the Innovaugas 4.0 project, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia to achieve new solutions for advanced integrated water management, optimise water resources and provide a long-term response to the demands of different uses, in balance with the natural environment.  

The Innovaugas 4.0 project has a budget of 7 million euros and is 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Spanish Multiregional Operational Programme (POPE) 2014-2020.

The Innovaugas 4.0 project was selected by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in 2020 and has a European funding of €4.2 million, being also co-financed by the Galician Innovation Agency, with €700,000, and by Augas de Galicia, with €2.1 million.
