Premios innovaugas 2022 para centros educativos en Galicia

The Xunta de Galicia announces the Innovaugas 2022 School Awards to encourage environmental education on the use of water and the preservation of the natural environment.

  • The initiative is aimed at students in 1st and 2nd grade of primary school with the objective of stimulating good habits in the use of water, knowledge of hydrological ecosystems, river dynamics and risks associated with extreme events or climate change.

 

  • They propose the development of an audiovisual piece, with a maximum duration of 1 minute and a minimum of 15 seconds, related to some of the objectives of the project developed by the Xunta Innovaugas 4.0.

 

  • In each province, 4 finalist teams will be selected and, among them, one winning team per province, which will receive 3,000 euros; in addition, the members of the 16 finalist teams will be given a water can made of recycled plastic.

 

The Xunta has called the Innovaugas 2022 School Awards to encourage environmental education among the newest around the use of water and the preservation of the natural environment.

The Diario Oficial de Galicia publishes today the bases of this joint call of the Consellería de Infraestructuras y Movilidad, through Augas de Galicia, and the Consellería de Cultura, Educación, Formación Profesional y Universidades, directed to the educational centers of the first and second course of primary of all Galicia.

This contest is part of the Innovaugas 4.0 project, in which Augas de Galicia is promoting innovative public procurement to move towards a truly comprehensive management of water resources in Galicia, which addresses the protection and balance of ecosystems and natural resources in parallel with an equitable economic and social welfare.

Under this initiative, the Xunta intends to stimulate among primary school students, with a didactic approach adapted to the new times, the acquisition of good habits in the use of water and knowledge of the behavior of natural hydrological ecosystems, river dynamics or risks associated with extreme events or climate change.

To this end, the Innovaugas 2022 School Awards propose the development of an audiovisual piece, with a maximum duration of 1 minute and a minimum of 15 seconds, designed for dissemination through social networks, which can be used as another resource to encourage the curiosity of students to acquire new knowledge and learn new content, in this case, respect for water.

The total amount of the cash prizes of this call totals 12,000 euros and are co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, in the framework of the Plurirexional ERDF Operational Program of Spain 2014-2020.

Educational centers that offer teachings of 1st and 2nd year of primary school in the Autonomous Community of Galicia may participate in this call. Each center may participate with one or more classrooms of these two courses. Each classroom will constitute a team made up of the students of the classroom and a responsible teacher. One participation per classroom will be allowed.

The theme of the audiovisual piece will be related to at least some of the objectives of the Innovaugas 4.0 project: management of water resources and the environment, resilience to climate change in the hydrological field or circular water economy. For the evaluation of the candidatures, the jury will take into account didactic and scientific criteria, but also the originality and communicative capacity of the piece.

In each province, the jury will select 4 finalist teams and, from among them, one winning team per province, which will receive 3,000 euros as a prize. In addition to this award, the members of the 16 finalist teams will be entertained with a water can made of recycled plastic.

The participating teachers responsible for the winning entries will receive a diploma from Augas de Galicia certifying them as winners. These teachers responsible for the winning videos will receive from the Consellería de Cultura, Educación y Universidad a certificate of educational innovation award with an equivalence of 12 hours of teacher training.

The deadline for submitting applications will remain open from tomorrow until January 31, through the electronic headquarters of the Xunta.

Innovaugas 4.0

Innovaugas 4.0 is a project promoted by the Xunta, through Augas de Galicia, which seeks to achieve new solutions for advanced integrated water management, optimize water resources and provide a long-term response to the demands of different water uses, in balance with the natural environment and river ecosystems, respecting the achievement of the environmental objectives established for water bodies and addressing the new scenarios determined by climate change.

The Innovaugas 4.0 project has a budget of €7 million and is 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through Spain's Pluri-regional Operational Program (POPE) 2014-2020.

Innovaugas 4.0 was selected by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in 2020 and has a grant of €4.2 million from European funds, and is also co-financed by the Galician Innovation Agency, with €700,000, and by Augas de Galicia, with €2.1 million.
