• Innovaugas 4.0 is a Public Procurement of Innovation project promoted by the public entity Augas de Galicia

The project Innovaugas 4.0 – Advanced Management of Galician Water Resources began its Preliminary Market Consultation process with a virtual launch day on 6th May, inaugurated by the Regional Minister for Infrastructure and Mobility, Ethel Vázquez, and the Regional Minister for the Economy, Employment and Industry, Francisco Conde, of the Xunta de Galicia, and attended by more than 350 people.

Innovaugas 4.0 is a project promoted by the Public Business Entity Augas de Galicia, under the Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility of the Xunta de Galicia, which pursues advanced integral water management to optimise water resources and provide a long-term response to the demands of different water uses, in balance with the natural environment and river ecosystems, respecting the meeting of environmental targets established for water bodies and taking into account new scenarios determined by climate change.

The project has a total budget of €7 million and was selected through the call of the Promotion of Innovation line from the Demand for Public Procurement of Innovation developed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The project is 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Spanish Multi-Regional Operational Programme (MOP) 2014-2020, and also has the contribution of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN).

The Regional Minister for Infrastructure and Mobility, Ethel Vázquez, and the Regional Minister for the Economy, Employment and Industry, Francisco Conde, together with the Director of Augas de Galicia, Teresa Gutiérrez, participate in the presentation of the ‘Innovaugas’ project to the economic and business agents.

On 13th and 14th May, two technical workshops were held, also online, which each received the participation of more than 270 people. These workshops were dedicated to detailing the unmet needs within each of the 3 axes in which the project is articulated:

Axis 1 – Improvement and innovation in the management of water resources and the environment
Axis 2 – Increasing resilience to climate change

Axis 3 – Incorporation of the circular economy model into the management of the integral water cycle

Through the project’s website, all the information related to the conferences held to date has been shared through video recordings of the three sessions as well as all the presentations used during them. In addition, in order to encourage completion of the forms for the presentation of proposals, additional information regarding challenge 3 of the project and a FAQs document were shared, through which a total of 62 questions raised in relation to the project were answered.

The deadline for the submission of proposals for solutions remained open until 2.00 p.m. on Monday 8th June 2020.
