• These awards, organised by the Water Europe platform, recognise each year the most innovative water solutions from across the European Union.

The project Innovaugas 4.0, Advanced management of Galician water resources, promoted by Augas de Galicia, is an official candidate for the Water Europe Innovation Awards in the category of "Water Governance Award", which recognises the best European public initiatives related to governance in the water sector.

Gonzalo Mosquera, manager of Augas de Galicia, and Iván Cacheiro, manager of European projects and funds of the entity, will represent the project at the awards ceremony, which will take place within the framework of the annual conference "Water Innovation Europe" and will be held on 14 and 15 June in Brussels under the title "What is the role of water in a carbon neutral society?

This nomination means for Innovaugas the European recognition of the first experience of innovative public procurement being developed by Augas de Galicia and highlights the commitment to innovation of the Xunta de Galicia in one of the key community events in the sector.

The awards are promoted by the Water Europe (WE) platform, created by the European Commission in 2004, which currently brings together 250 members from 28 countries representing the entire water value chain, from industry and services and public authorities to civil society organisations. Its main objective is to contribute to the solution of global water challenges and to generate a smart, sustainable and efficient use of water resources.

INNOVAUGAS 4.0

It should be remembered that Innovaugas 4.0 is an initiative promoted by Augas de Galicia to seek innovative solutions in advanced integrated water management, optimize water resources and respond to the demands of different uses, taking into account the context of climate change.

Last year, Innovaugas 4.0 received 162 proposals from Spanish and international companies, technology centers and universities. This innovative project has a budget of 7 million euros and is 80% co-financed by the European ERDF funds.

In addition, Innovaugas 4.0 was selected by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in the Line of Promotion of Innovation from the Demand and Innovative Public Procurement, with a grant of 4.2 million euros from European funds and also the co-financing of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN), with 700,000 euros, and Augas de Galicia, which will contribute 2.1 million euros.
