The project Innovaugas 4.0 – Advanced Management of Galician Water Resources received a total of 196 proposals in the Preliminary Market Consultation, which opened on 6th May with a virtual launch day attended by more than 350 participants, most of whom were representatives of companies, technology centres and universities from Spain and abroad.

Of the 196 proposals received, 95 were submitted for challenge 1. Integral hydrological information system for advanced water resources management; 40 respond to challenge 2. Strengthening capacities to prepare for and adapt to climate change; and 61 to challenge 3. Circular economy in the Integral Water Cycle.

The proposals were submitted by 115 entities, mostly from Spain. In addition, proposals have been received from 6 foreign organisations (UK, France, Netherlands and Colombia). The Innovaugas 4.0 project has generated great interest in Galicia, with 62 entities participating in the Preliminary Market Consultation phase, including companies, technology centres and research groups, as well as the three universities of the region (Universidade da Coruña, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and Universidade de Vigo).

Throughout the month of July, interviews will be held with various proponents to help Augas de Galicia understand any issues that were not sufficiently clear in the proposals presented.

Innovaugas 4.0 is a project promoted by the Public Business Entity Augas de Galicia, under the Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility of the Xunta de Galicia, which pursues advanced integral water management to optimise water resources and provide a long-term response to the demands of different water uses, in balance with the natural environment and river ecosystems, respecting the meeting of environmental targets established for water bodies and taking into account new scenarios determined by climate change.

The project has a total budget of €7 million and was selected through the call of the Promotion of Innovation line from the Demand for Public Procurement of Innovation developed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The project is 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Spanish Multi-Regional Operational Programme (MOP) 2014-2020, and also has the contribution of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN).
