The Xunta tenders today for 1.9 million euros a system to optimize energy consumption and ensure the quality of water discharged into the treatment plants.
This service is part of the Innovaugas 4.0 project, an initiative of the Xunta to improve the management of Galician water resources through a circular economy model in urban wastewater treatment plants.
The program tendered today consists of a service of advanced data processing and analysis in real time to facilitate decision-making in small and medium-sized wastewater treatment plants.
The contract has an execution period of 15 months, which includes the phases of solution design, development and integration, testing and validation, and final certification.
Companies interested in developing this contract may submit their bids until December 21.
Objectives
The aim of the service is to ensure compliance with the quality parameters with respect to the water discharged into the receiving environment, the optimization of the energy consumption of each treatment plant, as well as the operational reliability of the facilities so that they operate efficiently.
It is an advanced simulation system in a controlled environment, providing real-time recommendations to Augas de Galicia to make decisions on the different processes of each treatment plant and implement the principles of the circular economy model in the integral water cycle.
In this sense, this proposal will be tested in the treatment plants of Baiona, Nigrán and Gondomar, in order to cover the widest range of common processes of these small and medium-sized facilities in Galicia.
Innovaugas
It should be remembered that Innovaugas 4.0 is an initiative promoted by Augas de Galicia to seek innovative solutions in advanced integrated water management, optimize water resources and respond to the demands of different uses, taking into account the context of climate change.
Last year, Innovaugas 4.0 received 162 proposals from Spanish and international companies, technology centers and universities.
This innovative project has a budget of 7 million euros and is 80% co-financed by the European ERDF funds.
In addition, Innovaugas 4.0 was selected by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in the Line of Promotion of Innovation from the Demand and Innovative Public Procurement, with a grant of 4.2 million euros from European funds and also the co-financing of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN), with 700,000 euros, and Augas de Galicia, which will contribute 2.1 million euros.
