• The opening presentation of the event, “Challenges and perspectives of Galicia: Innovaugas”, will be given by Iván Cacheiro, European projects and funds manager at Augas de Galicia.
• The event will close with the round table debate, “Digitalisation in the water sector in Galicia”, with the participation of Teresa Gutiérrez, director of Augas de Galicia.
• In addition to Innovaugas 4.0, different success stories of digitalisation in the water sector will be presented, as well as the EDAR 360 project funded under the Conecta Hubs 2021 programme by GAIN.

The Innovaugas 4.0 project, Advanced management of Galician water resources, promoted by Augas de Galicia, will be present at the event “Digitalisation in the water sector”, to be held on Friday 18 at A Cidade da Cultura, in Santiago de Compostela.

The presentation, given by Iván Cacheiro, project and European funds manager at Augas de Galicia, will review the public procurement of innovation project, Innovaugas 4.0, which is currently in the tendering phase and whose contracts must be executed before 31 May next year.

Innovaugas 4.0 aims to solve 3 challenges through technological innovation and non-standardised solutions in the market. Specifically, challenge 1 – Comprehensive hydrological information system for advanced water resources management, challenge 2 – Strengthening capacities for preparedness and adaptation to climate change and challenge 3 – Circular economy in the integral water cycle.

The Xunta de Galicia, through the public entity Augas de Galicia, which reports to the Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility, announced in November the tender for the provision of a service for an advanced real-time data processing and analysis system to facilitate decision-making by the entity in small and medium-sized wastewater treatment plants, for an amount of 1,953,757.40 euros. Two more services are expected to be tendered before the end of the first quarter of 2022, corresponding to Innovaugas challenges 1 and 2.

INNOVAUGAS 4.0

Innovaugas 4.0 is a project promoted by the Public Business Entity Augas de Galicia, under the Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility of the Xunta de Galicia, which seeks to achieve innovative solutions for advanced integrated water management, optimise water resources and provide a long-term response to the demands of the different uses of water, in balance with the natural environment and river ecosystems, while respecting the achievement of environmental objectives established for water bodies and addressing the new scenarios determined by climate change.

The Innovaugas 4.0 project has an eligible budget of €7 million and is 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Spanish Multi-regional Operational Programme (POPE) 2014-2020.

Innovaugas 4.0 was selected by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in 2020 in the Line of Promotion of Innovation from the Demand and Innovative Public Procurement, has a European funding aid of 4,200,000 euros, will also be co-financed by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) with 700,000 euros and Augas de Galicia will contribute 2,100,000 euros.
